Meet the Instructors
Abbey Weeks
Abbey is a mental health counselor and artist dedicated to fostering well-being through creative expression. With experience working with diverse populations, Abbey combines art therapy training with teaching art lessons. She specializes in mixed-media art, using paint, collage materials, and found objects. Abbey is known for her personable, creative, and non-judgmental approach.
Candace Cheatham​
Candace's journey with yoga has been one of self-discovery and growth. She has experienced firsthand the physical, mental, and emotional benefits of a consistent yoga practice. It has helped her find balance and peace in her life, and she is passionate about sharing this gift with others.In 2020, Candace took the leap to become a yoga teacher. Her 500-hour training has equipped her with a deep understanding of yoga philosophy, anatomy, and teaching techniques.
Carla Kopikis
Carla is a lifelong educator, and loves empowering her students through music, movement and laughter. Zumba is the perfect way to build community and let loose together.
Dr. Dean Mooney
Dr. Dean Mooney is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist - Doctorate and a Licensed School Psychologist in the state of Vermont. In addition, he is a Nationally Certified School Psychologist. He is co-author of Nonverbal Learning Disabilities: A Guide to School Success (May 2006), Nonverbal Learning Disabilities: A Guide to School Success - The Teacher’s Manual (September 2007), A Train Ride to Grandma’s (With NO Chocolate Donut!) (September 2009), and A Snapshot of Me – A Student with NLD (2014).
Emma Roy
Emma is a registered dietitian that loves talking all things food. She went to culinary school at Johnson & Wales University and loves to share her passion for nutrition by teaching others through cooking demos.
Jen Morin
Jen Morin is thrilled to be returning to BITSS! Through her company, Full Spectrum Drama, Inc., Jen teaches and directs theater, film, and music with people of all ages and abilities. She is a certified theatre teacher, and holds an M.F.A. in Film Directing and B.F.A. in Film/Video. Jen has also studied Occupational Therapy, which has greatly influenced her teaching style as she learned to adapt activities for different abilities. Jen has been teaching adaptive arts in the greater Boston area since 2016.
Link Zawadzki-Cicotte
Link is a college art student who works primarily traditionally 2D! He is so excited to meet everyone!
Liz Tam
Liz is a former elementary teacher turned fitness instructor. It was love at first class with Pound. In this community she saw women that looked like her feeling confident and proud. When she picked up her green Ripsticks, she felt strong. She felt empowered. She felt like she had found her place.
Rebecca Szynkowski
Rebecca (she/her), is a proud member of the deaf/hard-of-hearing community. She was born and raised by a wonderfully deaf family, which means she is also deaf and uses American Sign Language (ASL). Additionally, she is proficient in reading and writing in English. She will be teaching ASL levels 1 and 2, guiding you through the basics of ASL and offering insights into deaf culture to help you understand about deaf community. She is thrilled to be returning for her second year as an ASL instructor, eager to share more about deaf culture with you!
