About BITSS
The Boston International Turner Syndrome Summit (BITSS) is a one-week immersive program for youth ages 12–19 with Turner syndrome. Participants come from across the United States and occasionally from Canada and beyond. Our staff includes many adults with Turner syndrome who serve as mentors and role models, creating a supportive, affirming community where participants can build confidence, friendships, and independence.
Position Summary
The Inclusion Specialist provides individualized companionship and support to participants who may have neurodivergent profiles or additional needs that require extra assistance in order to fully participate in the BITSS program. The Inclusion Specialist works closely with camp directors and program staff to ensure each participant feels safe, included, respected, and empowered to engage in all activities to the best of their ability.
This is a primarily volunteer position with a small stipend provided at the conclusion of the program week.
Key Responsibilities

Provide one-on-one or small-group support to participants who need additional assistance to participate fully in daily activities, workshops, meals, and social events

Foster a welcoming, inclusive environment that promotes dignity, autonomy, and belonging

Support participants with transitions, routines, emotional regulation, sensory needs, and social interactions as needed

Collaborate with camp directors and staff to implement individual support strategies

Observe and communicate participant needs, challenges, and successes with the leadership team

Model positive, respectful behavior and encourage peer inclusion

Maintain participant confidentiality and professional boundaries

Perform additional duties as assigned by camp directors as program needs arise
Qualifications

Experience working with youth and/or individuals with neurodivergent profiles (e.g., ADHD, autism spectrum, learning differences, anxiety, executive functioning challenges)

Patient, flexible, and compassionate approach

Strong communication and teamwork skills

Ability to adapt in a fast-paced, dynamic program environment

Commitment to inclusive, strengths-based support

Background in education, social work, psychology, counseling, special education, nursing, camp counseling, or related fields is a plus

Familiarity with Turner syndrome is helpful but not required (training provided)

Physical & Program Requirements

Ability to be on your feet for extended periods and actively participate in program activities

Ability to supervise participants in a variety of settings (workshops, dorms, meals, outings, recreation)
