We're excited to share that our first day of camp has been a wonderful success! All of our campers have settled in and are already creating meaningful connections and memories.
Moving In & Getting Acquainted
This morning was filled with excitement as campers arrived and moved into their dorms at Emerson College and were introduced to their suite mates. We understand that joining a new community can feel overwhelming at first - those butterflies in your stomach are something our mentors remember well from their own first days as campers! Many of our counselors once stood exactly where our new campers are today, which is why they're especially skilled at creating a warm, welcoming environment from the moment everyone arrives. The energy was contagious as old friends reunited with joyful hugs and new campers were enthusiastically welcomed into the BITSS family with open arms. Our counselors led engaging ice breaker activities full of laughter that helped everyone feel comfortable, included, and ready to embark on this adventure together - those first-day jitters quickly transforming into excitement for the week ahead.
Meals Together
Dinnertime in our cafeteria was filled with lively conversation as the girls shared stories and got to know each other better. The kitchen staff prepares delicious meals that kept everyone energized for the day's activities.
Evening Tradition: Art Night
Tonight we continue one of our most beloved BITSS traditions - our first-night Art Night! This special creative session gives campers a chance to express themselves through art while bonding with their new friends. Many lasting friendships have begun around our art tables over the years!
Evening Rituals: Meds and Beds
After our evening activities, campers participate in our time-honored "Meds and Beds" routine - a phrase that has become a normal part of the BITSS experience. Campers lined up by their group at the nurse's station to receive their evening medications, with our attentive medical staff ensuring everyone received proper care. Our counselors then accompanied everyone back to their dorms, making sure all campers were comfortable and settled before lights out. This consistent evening ritual helps provide structure and security, especially for our first-time campers who are adjusting to being away from home.
