Sunday Summit Spotlight

As the sun rose on our final morning together, there was a different energy in the air - a mix of contentment from an incredible week and the bittersweet knowledge that goodbyes were coming. Suitcases appeared in hallways, phone numbers were exchanged with promises to stay in touch, and more than a few tears were wiped away as our Summiteers prepared to head home.

As we watched these amazing young people pack up their belongings and share their final hugs, we couldn't help but reflect on what BITSS truly represents and why this gathering matters so much. Back in 2016, BITSS began with a simple but powerful vision - young people with Turner syndrome who longed for connection, who needed to see that they weren't alone in their journey, and who deserved the chance to experience the independence and confidence that comes from being surrounded by others who truly understand.

What started as a dream to create a space where these kids could just be themselves has blossomed into something truly life-changing. Over the years, we've watched shy campers transform into confident leaders, seen children discover strengths they never knew they had, and witnessed friendships form that will last a lifetime. BITSS isn't just a summer camp - it's a place where young people with Turner syndrome can experience the pure joy of belonging, the empowerment of independence, and the unshakeable knowledge that they are capable of anything they set their minds to.

As cars pulled up and families reunited, we saw it again - that unmistakable glow of confidence and connection that every Summiteer carries home with them. Parents often remark on how their children stand taller, speak more boldly about their experiences, and can’t stop talking about their new friends. This is the magic of BITSS - not just the activities or the workshops, but the profound transformation that happens when young people with Turner syndrome realize they are part of something bigger, something beautiful, something that celebrates exactly who they are.

Until we meet again next summer, we carry with us the laughter, the friendships, the breakthroughs, and the incredible spirit of every single Summiteer who made this week unforgettable. The connections made here don't end when camp does - they're the foundation for a lifetime of confidence, courage, and community.
